Cloudy today, but no rain. Roads in Louisiana are so rough, the refrigerator magnets keep falling off.
Speaking of falling off, we had to make a FAST stop on the freeway due to folks rubber-necking a traffic accident in the lanes going in the opposite direction. Good thing it wasn't a bathroom break, or lunch break time or I would have been bouncing off the walls when we finally came to a stop! As it was, a metal tray crashed to the floor (full of books, eye glasses, etc) and the heavy crock pot bounced off the counter to the stove top to the sink. Who knew it was so sturdy? Not even a chip!
Not much else happened until the driveway into the campground. Hwy 6 is a very busy 2 lane road. Campground sign is very small. Needless to say, we didn't see the sign until it was too late to turn in. We continued on a while and couldn't find a place to U-turn (we've tried that before, towing, on a wider road and stopped traffic in all directions) so we pulled off to the right shoulder and unhooked the car. Then we continued on looking for a place to turn around. Ended up at the Happy G Ranch where a very kind man let us do a 3-point turn in his ranch driveway. The Happy G made us very happy indeed!
Back to the campground where we were greeted by no-one in the office. Could have been free camping?? Anyway, worked on day 6 travel plans and leftovers for dinner. Pretty spot. We're starting to get woodsy. Paid for our stay in the morning.
